Getting Started

Aloha! My name is Treyson and I am working at Knight Transportation in Phoenix, AZ to develop a team of empowered individuals through the use of tools like Alteryx, Tableau and Power BI. I also head the Phoenix Alteryx User Group with Michael Perillo. Our mission there is to help spread the good word of Alteryx to the Phoenix community.

I sat down yesterday with Ann Jackson over lunch to talk about life goals. She heads the Phoenix Tableau User Group with our boy Micheal and since we are both in something of a similar position with our respective groups, she wanted to know my plan. I didn’t really have one. Micheal had recently asked me to help lead the group and at the time I was fighting for the soul of the team I now lead at Knight. I was happy to help but I didn’t really dive into what I could do with that in the long run. Ann’s question was the first time I had really started to look up from the groundwork I was laying and think oh how I could really make a difference in my community. She seems to be a catalyst for that sort of thing.

Alright, so now I have to figure out what I want to do. Ann had thrown a few things around like becoming an Alteryx Ace or being a knowledge source in the community or just paving the way professionally. Yes. I want to do those things, but I didn’t (and still don’t) really know what that meant or even looked like. So I told her I would think about it and get back to her. Driving home I was thinking about what I do at work and what is the most rewarding thing about my job and how I can apply it to this thing I was about to embark on. The think I am happiest about, and I will dive more into this later, is the excitement that I have been able to generate around my organization about this tool. And then it hit me! I was so excited that I just texted Ann right away. “I want to create an Army!”

So that’s what I want. An army of passionate game changers that rather than seeing the world the way it is, see the world the way it could be. Take this journey with me!
